Traditional Karate is composed of many elements which include:
 |
Eye Training
and Movement:
|
These are
the two most important factors in defending oneself.
Only through
proper eye training and movement does one develop the ability to to react quicker, and move faster. This ultimately translates in
the karate-ka’s ability to conserve energy on uke-waza
(blocking techniques) and maximize energy on their kogeki or (attack).
 |
Suki-waza
(Striking Techniques) – proper use of legs, hips and shoulders
to generate maximum power for all types of strikes, from the
traditional punch to the knife hand and one knuckle strike. |
 |
Keri-Waza:
Kicking techniques. Proper kicking technique for numerous kicks
including front, side, and roundhouse kicks from both the front
and back legs. |
 |
Goshin-Jutsu:
Self-defense techniques. Although these techniques can be as
devastating as necessary, goshin-jutsu also offers the karate-ka
the option to control one’s opponent with wrist locks, arm bars,
chokes, and come-along techniques. |
 |
Ukemi:
Breakfall. |
 |
Tori-te:
(Catching hands) throws against punches and kicks.
